I LOVE the OSCARS!!!! To me it is like Christmas morning! The gowns, the jewels, the shoes, oh yeah and there are the awards. While this year's award show was pretty predictable as to who the winners were going to be, yes I even picked The Hurt Locker to win best picture. But who cares about all that what is really important are the gowns and who wore those best! So while the Oscars have all been handed out it is time for me to give out my Oscars for fashion! So I hope you will enjoy my recap and please keep in mind that these are just the opinions of a silly girl in the bay who loves fashion!
The Choo Choo Award goes to:
Jennifer Lopes aka JLo and Jenny From The Block (in Armani Prive)
While I LOVE the top part of this dress and thought the material was exquisite I just did not like the big train that went with it. We all know that JLo has one of the best caboose's in the business we did not need to see the whole train attached to it.
The Good Night Moon Award goes to:
Sarah Jessica Park(in Chanel Couture)
I think SJP knew that she was going to be up past her bedtime so she thought it would be best to wear something that resembles a night gown.
The Come Fly With Me Award goes to:
Vera Famiga (in Marchesa)
I thought this dress was the wrong color for her. While the dress was beautiful and I love the color it was just not right for her. Not to mention all the ruffles looked like she could take off anytime she wanted to.
The Just In Case Award goes to:
Sandra Bullock (in Marchesa)
I think Sandra thought that just in case she did not win the Oscar for Best Actress she would dress like Oscar. While a lot of people liked this dress I did not like it on her. I thought the detail at that top and the design of the dress was amazing. I just would have liked to have seen her in something that showed off her figure a little better and I thought her lipstick was a little too bright but she won the Oscar so I guess the night ended well for her.
The Mother Says Award goes to:
Miley Cyrus (in Jenny Packham). While Miss Miley is growing up before our eyes one thing she is not learning to do is stand up straight. The dress is lovely but I just want to scream something my mother use to say to me all the time, STAND UP STRAIGHT!!! Plus I don't really like the glamour of the dress but the rocker look of the hair and nails. She needs to pick one and stick with it but I won't hold that against her because she is still a teenager and having fun. BUT the standing up straight thing she needs to do now especially when attending a GROWN UP event!
The Going To The Chapel Award goes to:
Amanda Seyfried (in Valentino Haute Couture). I LOVED this dress and thought it was amazing. She looked great in this dress but for some reason it just struck me as a wedding dress and not an Oscar dress. Not to mention I thought the color was a little to light for her skin tone. She looks kind of a little washout but in bridal kind of way.
The Gray Anatomy Award goes to:
Elizabeth Banks (in Versace). Who knew that gray could look so good. I LOVED this dress. I loved the cute of the dress on her. Everything on her worked well from the dress, shoes, hair, and make-up.
The No Vampire or Werewolf Need to Look Fab award goes to:
Kristen Stewart (in Monique Lhuillier)
I thought Kristen looked great in this dress. Monique Lhuillier is know for making fabulous wedding gowns and sometimes her evening gowns look like wedding gowns so I was shocked to see a dress by her done in all black. Kristen picked the right dress for her and it also fit her very well. So she can stand her own ground and maybe teach the Vampire and Werewolf a thing or two!
The Weather Girl Award goes to:
Charlize Theron (in Christian Dior)
I think Charlize saw this dress and thought it would be perfect for her. It was a great color, not too long of a train, fit her figure just right, and oh yeah if she got cold she would not have to worry about that little "nipping" out factor. So to avoid that from happening and everyone getting a picture of it she found the perfect dress. Good choice on picking a dress that had roses instead of cones. She was able to enjoy the Oscars know that the next day no one would be talking about her "girls" but just her dress.
Now it is time for me to give the BEST DRESSED award (I am being serious about this one)
The Best Dressed Oscar goes to:
Cameron Diaz (in Oscar de la Renta)
How appropriate that my Best Dress award for the Oscar's would go to someone wearing a dress by an Oscar! I LOVE this dress and thought that Cameron looked amazing in it. The dress fit her perfectly, her hair looked fabulous, and her make-up was very classic looking (though the lipstick was a little too red for my taste). Oscar you out did yourself this time. BRAVO! This may be the only Oscar that Cameron Diaz wins so I hope that she appreciates it!
Well that is my recap. Sorry it took my awhile to post it but I hope it was worth the wait. Until next year!
